Case Study

Jo GuyJo Guy, Managing Director,

AJ Community Care (Domiciliary Care Provider)

AJ Community Care is a leading domiciliary care provider with over 10 years’ experience of supporting vulnerable adults within the communities of Leeds and Wakefield.

In the latter months of 2014, the time came to search for a new Care Manager to run the daily operations of the business. Jo was eager to find a Care Manager who not only had experience in running a growing domiciliary care agency but also had a good understanding of the bigger picture in social care such as the launch of the Care Act 2015, commissioning, recruitment and retention of good care workers and a good commercial awareness.

Unfortunately, as much as Jo has experience in recruiting in social care, the reality was her time was limited and she could not dedicate the time and resource needed to find the best person. Having the right person in post was not only essential to ensure quality, compliance and continuity but also it was important to Jo that her team had a manager who will continue to help them grow as individuals and enable everyone to play their part in taking AJ Community Care to the next level in growth.

Jo quickly realised that she needed support with the task in hand, someone who would dedicate their days to finding her the right person. When looking at the bigger picture it was very apparent that the cost to AJ money not having the person in post was growing by the day.

It was at this point Jo turned to turro for support.

The identified solution was that Jo needed a dedicated consultant who was an expert in recruitment in the Social Care sector.

Jo Guys personal recommendation and comment:

“turro challenged me to really think about who was right for my team and what exactly it was I was looking for in my next manager. turro started the search and within 7 days I had 3 strong candidates presented to me who had been verbally referenced and results of their psychometric test.

I must say I was very impressed. I hadn’t had to do anything,

I set aside 30 minutes to review the CV’S and talk to my turro consultant about the candidates. By the end of that conversation I had 3 first stage interviews booked for the following week and some great advice on the questions I should ask each candidates that were specific to their psychometric profile results.

1st and 2nd stage interviews were held within 1 week as I knew to keep these candidates interested in my company I would have to move fast.  It was a hard decision, all candidates had their strengths and I could easily see how each one would benefit AJ Community Care. I invited the candidate I felt would be most suitable to spend the day in our office, working in the team on what we call a “Look and See Day”

Sharon had a great day with our team and was equally impressed with how fast turro had moved the process along and how simple it had been. The team really liked Sharon and she was offered with 24 hours of meeting the team.

If you are looking to recruit minus the headache that comes with the territory I would definitely recommend using the turro team”
